June 30, 2026 — The Vermont Community Broadband Board (VCBB) and NEK Broadband have officially celebrated the grand opening of the Groton Connectivity HUB, a free, digitally focused community workspace designed to expand local internet access and education.

Located at 1334 Scott Highway, the HUB was funded as part of a $2.85 million USDA Community Connect Grant awarded to NEKCV to bring high-speed fiber internet to every unserved address in Groton.

The new space offers residents free access to reliable high-speed internet, digital skills training, and a soundproof privacy pod tailored for telehealth appointments, job interviews, and confidential online services, according to NEK Broadband’s website.

“The HUB offers a place where residents can access reliable internet… build digital skills, and connect with resources that support work, education, and everyday life,” the VCBB shared in a statement, calling it an example of how broadband utility extends far beyond the network itself.
