Fidium speeds up southern Minnesota fiber build

Homes and businesses in Janesville, New Richland, St. Clair, St. James, and Vernon Center now are among over 30,000 locations in southern Minnesota that enjoy access to Fidium’s fiber optic network, according to the ISP.

Fidium says they plan to add more locations to their footprint in the state, which includes communities like Eagle Lake, Garden City, Good Thunder, Lake Crystal, Madison Lake, Mankato, Mapleton, Nicollet, and North Mankato.

Vernon Center Mayor Dana Ziegler was quoted in Fidium’s August 26 release.

“We needed reliable internet here in Vernon Center, and Fidium made it happen,” Ziegler said. “Our residents now can work from home, our local businesses now have the service needed to compete in today’s ever-changing marketplace, and we’ve given young people an important tool to use in their education journey. I’m grateful for this investment in our community.”

Stimulus Broadband begins construction in Sandy Valley, Nevada

The over 1,200 households in Sandy Valley, Nevada will soon have access to Stimulus Broadband’s fiber-optic internet, the company announced August 26 to Broadband Communities.

Construction has already begun in the community, the ISP says, with work expected to complete before year’s end.

According to Stimulus, the funding is supported by the Nevada State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund (SLFRF).

“When we deploy fiber in a community like Sandy Valley, we’re thinking in decades, not years,” said Dustin Heath, VP of engineering and construction. “As construction moves forward, every decision we make, from network design to the infrastructure we install, is focused on building a state-of-the-art network that can deliver reliable, high-capacity service today and support the community’s connectivity needs for decades to come.”

Race Communications plans expansion to Dinuba, California

Nearly 4,000 homes and businesses in the city of Dinuba, California will gain access to Race Communications’ fiber-optic network, the ISP announced August 26.

The announcement continues on the ISP’s rapid growth in California.

“Expanding into Dinuba is an exciting step forward for Race as we continue to grow across California and Tulare County,” said Raul Alcaraz, Race Communications CEO. “It’s clear that Race is committed to delivering fast, reliable internet. We’re determined to bring as many cities as possible the connectivity they need to thrive whether at work or at home, and Dinuba won’t be left behind.”

Norwich, New York powers up to GoNetspeed’s network

The first of over 3,100 homes and businesses slated to be connected to GoNetspeed’s network in Norwich, New York were connected, the ISP announced August 25.

The work is funded by a $4 million investment, the ISP said.

“GoNetspeed is committed to improving life online for as many New Yorkers as possible, and we’re excited to bring that commitment to Norwich,” said Tom Perrone, GoNetspeed’s COO. “As we begin connecting customers, we’re delivering the speed and reliability they need to stay connected while helping build a stronger digital future for the entire region.”

Vero Fiber starts construction on second phase of Eureka project

Phase 2 of Vero Fiber’s fiber-to-the-home project in Eureka, California has begun, the ISP announced August 20.

Vero Fiber says the second phase of the project will take roughly a year to complete. The company plans to add 10,000 homes and businesses to their fiber-optic network with the work, building on prior efforts dating back to October 2024.

Since then, Vero Fiber says they’ve added 11,000 homes and businesses in Eureka to their network.

Public Works Director Kelly Allen said the work will enhance Eureka’s ability to support economic growth, remote work, and modern services.

“Expanding this infrastructure ensures greater Eureka is well positioned to meet both current needs and long-term opportunities,” Allen said.

GoNetspeed kicks off $4.5 million expansion in Parlin, New Jersey

More than 3,100 homes and businesses in Parlin, New Jersey will soon have access to GoNetspeed’s symmetrical, 100% fiber-optic network, the ISP announced August 19.

“Parlin deserves infrastructure that does more than simply keep it connected,” said Richard Clark, GoNetspeed’s president and CEO. “Our 100% fiber network is built to grow alongside Parlin, providing residents and businesses with the reliability and performance they need to thrive. By laying the groundwork for a more connected future, this investment gives Parlin the tools to embrace new opportunities and what comes next.”

The ISP says the work in Parlin, located in Middlesex County, is part of their broader $110 million investment into New Jersey, which is the 11th state to enter their footprint.

TDS Telecom plans expansions in southwest Idaho and eastern Oregon

Expansion efforts in Emmett, Idaho and Ontario, Oregon will bring TDS Telecom’s services to nearly 10,000 local homes and businesses, the ISP announced August 18.

The all-fiber network expansion will bring a new option for internet, phone and TV services in both communities, the ISP said.

“TDS is excited to bring high-speed fiber internet to residents and businesses in the area through this privately funded, multi-million-dollar investment,” said Drew Petersen, TDS Telecom’s SVP of corporate affairs. “Fiber internet is the infrastructure communities need to compete, grow and stay connected – whether residents are working from home, students are learning online or businesses are serving customers.”

Wire 3 announces $40 million expansion into Athens, Georgia

A fully funded $40 million investment will power Wire 3’s latest expansion plans in Georgia, the provider announced August 12.

When work is complete “Wire 3’s expansion will deliver symmetrical, ultrafast internet to more than 39,000 homes and businesses, ushering in a new era of connectivity for Athens and reinforcing Wire 3’s rapid growth across the Peach State,” the provider says.

Construction in Athens will begin this fall, Wire 3 said, with the first connected customers expected to be hooked into Wire 3’s network this winter.

“From Macon and Albany to Warner Robins and Centerville, our momentum across Georgia continues to grow, and now it’s Athens’ turn,” said Jai Ramachandran, Wire 3 CEO.”We couldn’t be more excited to bring our 100% fiber network to another vibrant Georgia community, delivering the speed, reliability and choice that empower residents, businesses and growth. We’re investing in more than internet; we’re investing in Athens’ future.”

Kinetic by Unity announces fiber footprint growth in 3 states

Uniti’s Kinetic has announced adding 141,000 new fiber locations across their 18-state footprint in Q2 2026.

Included in the fiber-footprint growth was over 13,000 new homes across 100 communities in Texas, the provider announced August 5.

Additionally, Kinetic says they added 8,000 homes to their footprint across 30 Oklahoma communities.

Meanwhile, in North Carolina, Kinetic says they added 16,000 homes to their footprint across roughly 40 communities.

Latisha Rose appointed president and GM of Orbitel Communications

After serving as Orbitel Communications’ interim president and GM since September 2025, Latisha Rose has been appointed to the positions on a permanent basis, the provider announced August 5.

The provider, which is part of the Schurz Broadband Group, said Rose has managed the organization with a strategic and operational focus with strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

“Latisha has done a remarkable job leading the Orbitel team and we are thrilled to announce the promotion of her leadership role,” said Diego Anderson, the president of Schurz Broadband Group. “Her proven track record, customer-centric approach, and performance-driven leadership style inspires our local team members to deliver an outstanding experience. Lightcurve launches 8 Gbps services in Tacoma

Users of Lightcurve’s internet services in Tacoma, Washington will now have 8 Gbps download services, the provider announced August 4.

The network upgrades in Tacoma follow similar upgrades in Centralia, Chehalis, and Central Washington, including Ellensburg, Kittitas, and Selah.

By bringing 8 Gbps downloads to Tacoma, we’re ensuring families and at-home businesses have the capacity they need not just today, but for years to come,” said Beth Barnes, SVP of sales and marketing at Lightcurve. “We look forward to extending these capabilities more broadly in the coming years.”

Wire 3 begins construction in Anderson, South Carolina

Continuing on their momentum from July, Wire 3 has begun August with another announcement heralding the beginning of network construction in a community.

According to their August 4 release, Wire 3’s network in Anderson will eventually reach 35,000 residents and businesses.

The ISP says the work is backed by a fully funded $36 million investment.

Through comments on the company’s website, Wire 3 CEO Jai Ramachandran explained why Wire 3 landed on Anderson to begin their rollout in South Carolina.

“When we looked at opportunities in South Carolina, Anderson immediately stood out,” Ramachandran said. “This is a community with strong local pride, a growing economy, and a vision for the future.”
