A groundbreaking earlier this month marked the beginning of construction for a new open-access fiber network in Federick, Colorado.

The network, being built by Intrepid Fiber Networks in partnership with ALLO Fiber, is due for completion in 2027.

In an announcement this month, Intrepid Fiber Networks called the undertaking “a significant investment into Frederick’s digital future.”

“We’re thrilled to be working with the Town of Frederick to bring fiber optic infrastructure to their community,” said Jack Waters, the CEO of Intrepid Fiber Networks. “This is an investment in the future of this community, ensuring residents and businesses get access to digital opportunities.”

Also commenting on the progress was Frederick Mayor Tracie Crites.

“This marks a transformative chapter in Frederick’s infrastructure story and a bold investment in the everyday lives of our residents – supporting everything from remote work and online learning to health care, entrepreneurship, and main street commerce,” the mayor stated.

Frederick, which has a population under 20,000, is located in Coloardo’s Weld County.

Since their founding in 2021, Intrepid Fiber Networks has advanced an open-access wholesale fiber-network model, a summary of the company stated.

Their partner on the Frederick project, ALLO Fiber, meanwhile operates in roughly 50 communities across six states, including Colorado.

Other states where ALLO Fiber has operations include Arizona, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri, a description of the company stated.
