HOLLIS, NH — TDS Telecom (TDS) has deployed the Calix E7-2 Ethernet Service Access Platform (ESAP) and 700GE family of optical network terminals (ONTs) for its new residential gigabit fiber network in Hollis, New Hampshire. Leveraging gigabit passive optical network (GPON) technology, this community marks the first residential gigabit deployment for TDS, as well as the first network in the state to offer high-bandwidth data speeds of up to 1 Gbps to homes, businesses, and anchor institutions.

Dubbed 1Gig, the TDS service offering will be made available to all residents within the community of Hollis, which is located in the southern part of the state, just an hour from Boston. Along with the 1Gig data service, TDS is also offering IPTV and voice in the area, in a triple-play bundle. All new subscribers to the 1Gig service will also receive Remote PC Support free of charge. After the initial launch of 1Gig in Hollis, TDS is planning to expand its gigabit services to other markets where IPTV is already offered.

With the addition of New Hampshire, Calix is now supporting 28 gigabit networks in 20 different states. While the gigabit momentum has been building in the U.S., service providers around the world are also increasing their broadband speeds, as Calix is also part of residential gigabit services deployments in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and Trinidad and Tobago.
