Vero Broadband, LLC, operating as Vero Fiber, this month announced the completion of its acquisition of Telephone Electronics Corporation (TEC), enhancing its reach across Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee.
The move expands Vero’s service coverage to approximately 444,000 households, including active and soon-to-be-serviced locations, representing a significant footprint extension from the Western U.S. into the Southeast region.
Sunita Krishna, CEO of Vero Fiber, emphasized that the acquisition was driven not merely by TEC’s network assets but by its commitment to local communities.
“What drew us to TEC wasn’t just the network. It was the people and the reputation they’ve built serving their communities,” Krishna said.
She pointed out that TEC’s strong local presence aligns with Vero’s mission to bring reliable, next-generation fiber internet to underserved areas. Krishna also praised TEC’s shareholders for their vision and dedication over more than a century, ensuring a solid foundation for the combined company’s future.
Scott Pell, President of TEC, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting how the union would accelerate growth while preserving TEC’s community-focused approach.
“Our customers can expect the same trusted service, now supported by the resources and innovation of a national platform,” Pell remarked.
Vero also plans to invest additional capital in TEC’s network to boost expansion and enhance multi-gigabit fiber capabilities across the three-state service area.
The acquisition brings Vero’s fiber services to numerous communities, including Bay Springs, Laurel, and Pelahatchie in Mississippi; Paris, Milan, and Camden in Tennessee; and Roanoke, Cherokee, and Tuscumbia in Alabama.
