Lumos has announced a major expansion of its fiber network in Ohio, saying it will build nearly 3,000 miles of new infrastructure across Lorain and Cuyahoga counties.
When work is complete, Lumos hopes to extend service to more than 226,000 addresses in 27 communities, a release from the company this week stated.
Lumos said the roll‑out will touch a mix of cities and townships, and that construction is scheduled to begin in late 2025.
Notably, Lorain County is located to the west of Cleveland, along Lake Erie, and Cuyahoga County is the home of Cleveland.
According to the release, residential customers in newly served neighborhoods will receive service under the T‑Mobile Fiber retail brand, while Lumos will continue to market to large business customers and bulk multi‑dwelling units. The announcement repeated T‑Mobile’s published product structure, which offers several standard tiers including mid‑ and gigabit speeds and promotional benefits such as Autopay discounts and bundled voice‑line credits.
The companies also highlighted customer‑facing guarantees.
Meanwhile, the build forms part of a wider corporate strategy that followed T‑Mobile’s joint‑venture deal to acquire Lumos.
Company communications from earlier this year set out that T‑Mobile and its infrastructure partner intend to scale fiber builds nationally, with T‑Mobile positioned as the anchor retail tenant and an initial investment commitment in the hundreds of millions of dollars to accelerate deployment and reach more homes in the coming years.
