State leaders in Louisiana joined the state’s broadband office, known as ConnectLA, and Rayville-headquartered Volt Broadband last week to mark the completion of a major broadband expansion project in Northeast Louisiana.

Funded in part through the state’s GUMBO 1.0 program, the initiative has now connected nearly 7,000 homes and businesses across the region to reliable high-speed internet, ConnectLA announced July 16.

The completion comes as Louisiana accelerates infrastructure investments to support regional economic development.

“Louisiana is continuing to make the investments needed to support our state’s long-term growth,” said Gov. Jeff Landry, noting that such projects ensure every region is prepared for future opportunities.

ConnectLA Executive Director Veneeth Iyengar added that expanding connectivity provides local communities the foundation required to grow alongside new industrial investments.

Volt Broadband’s Jeff Churchwell praised the public-private collaboration behind the rollout, emphasizing that the partnership with local leaders and state initiatives has established critical infrastructure designed to serve Northeast Louisiana for decades to come.
