C Spire recently announced planned efforts to expand its digital infrastructure in Mississippi with a new 200-mile, high-capacity fiber corridor connecting Jackson to Olive Branch.
Driven by a long-term customer commitment, the high-count fiber backbone aims to bolster the state’s position in the rapidly growing artificial intelligence and data economy, C Spire’s Sept. 8 announcement stated.
C Spire said the route connects Mississippi’s capital with the greater Memphis regional hub—a major center for logistics and data center growth.
According to C Spire President and CEO Suzy Hays, the expansion represents a strategic investment designed to support next-generation technology, advanced computing, and local economic development for businesses, healthcare providers, and schools along the route.
“AI is changing the scale and speed at which digital infrastructure must be built, and this expansion strengthens Mississippi’s position in that rapidly growing economy,” Hays said.
Hays also said that while the undertaking “represents a strategic investment in the infrastructure required to support the next generation of technology,” it also is designed to support opportunities to serve others along the route.
Construction details will be released as the project progresses, C Spire said.
