A $100 million investment from Wire 3 will bring the provider’s symmetrical upload and download speeds to four communities in Lake County, Florida: Eustis, Leesburg, Mount Dora, and Tavares.
Wire 3, based in Rochester, New York, announced last week that the construction process, which will last two years, will see the first homes likely connected this summer.
The internet service provider is no stranger to Florida, however. Lake County will mark the sixth county within Wire 3’s footprint, according to Wire 3’s March 6 release.
Construction on the network is being backed by a $100 million privately funded investment, Wire 3’s release stated.
Wire 3’s efforts are part of a partnership with the Lake Economic Area Development (LEAD) Partnership, which has been seeking to bring fiber optic to the area, Wire 3’s release stated.
“We are pleased to support the growth of Wire 3 into Lake County,” said Heather Shubirg, the organization’s chief growth officer. “It is an honor to be included in their significant expansion of services for our community.”
Jai Ramachandran, the CEO of Wire 3, also celebrated the news.
“Reliable, incredibly fast internet has become essential to everyday life and growing communities,” Ramachandran stated. “As we prepare to expand to Lake County, we look forward to connecting thousands of residents and businesses to a cutting-edge network that will deliver the fastest speeds available for today and the next 100 years.”
Upon network completion, the four communities will join Daytona Beach, Ormond Beach, Holly Hill, New Smyrna Beach, Edgewater, Titusville, Melbourne, Palm Bay, Port St. Lucie, and Ocala as communities within Wire 3’s footprint.
