As thousands of fans prepare seersucker suits and derby hats for the Carolina Cup, local broadband provider Truvista Fiber is gearing up to keep the event connected.

The company says it will handle on-site networking for the March 28 meet at Springdale Race Course, marking its fourth year as the event’s local network provider.

Truvista Fiber’s setup will support gate ticketing, vendor payment systems, and livestreaming of the races, the company said. For the first time, the provider also says they’ve expanded on-site capacity to offer complimentary Wi‑Fi for fans seated in the grandstands.

“As a local company that’s been investing in the community for more than a century, we take a great deal of pride in supporting an event that brings 30,000 fans to Camden,” said Michelle Harvey, Truvista Fiber’s vice president of marketing.

“A keystone event”

The company is also the named sponsor of the Kid’s Zone at Springdale Race Course.

Ticketed adults can bring children 12 and under free to the family area, which will feature face painting, inflatables, a petting zoo and pony rides. With this year’s carnival theme, organizers promise circus acts and stilt walkers in addition to the usual attractions.

Event organizers say corporate support is a crucial element of the Cup’s long-running appeal.

“Strong community partnerships are what make the Carolina Cup a keystone event and why it has been beloved for more than 90 years,” Toby Edwards, executive director for the Carolina Cup, said in the release.

He noted that sponsorships help showcase Springdale Race Course and raise funds for the Health Services District of Kershaw County.

Gates open at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28; the Kid’s Zone runs from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and post time is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

According to Truvista, tickets are still available for the annual steeplechase, which historically draws about 30,000 spectators to Camden for one of South Carolina’s largest social events.
