    At CES 2025, Toyota Motor Corporation announced the completion of Phase 1 construction of Toyota Woven City (“Woven City”), its self-made smart city at the base of Mount Fuji. The Japanese automaker giant has labelled the city as a “test course for mobility” and plans to launch Phase 1 for late 2025.

    The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is pushing ahead with plans for a new spectrum auction to help pay for the removal and replacement of Chinese telecoms equipment from US networks.   
  1. Italy to sign €1.5bn government contract with SpaceX, report suggests
    Italy is in advanced negotiations with SpaceX for a €1.5 billion ($1.55 billion) contract to enhance the country’s telecoms security, according to media reports. The proposed five-year deal will focus on implementing encrypted government communications, enhancing military operations in the Mediterranean, and providing satellite services for emergency responses to natural disasters or security threats. 
  1. BT Group places UK’s largest ever Electric Vehicle order
    BT has announced the largest-ever commercial electric vehicle (EV) order in the UK, as the company continues its efforts to reduce its carbon footprint. The order includes 3,500 new EVs, which will contribute to BT Group’s goal of operating the largest fleet of electric vehicles in the UK.
