As the application deadline for the Distance Learning and Telemedicine Grant Program fast approaches, the USDA has cancelled a second informative webinar.

Another USDA webinar intended to give an overview of the Distance Learning and Telemedicine (DLT) Grant Program has been cancelled.

Last week, Broadband Communities first broke news of the cancellation of a USDA webinar that planned to discuss the grant program.

The grant program, overseen by the USDA Rural Development’s Rural Utilities Service, is designed for rural areas with populations of under 20,000.

At the time, we reported that it remained unclear if the webinar’s second scheduled date, on Feb. 6, will go forward.

Now, clarity on that matter has been provided.

“The DLT Grant Program Webinar originally scheduled for Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 1:00-2:30 p.m. EST has been cancelled,” an emailed notice from the USDA stated on Wednesday. “We appreciate your understanding and will continue to share future webinar opportunities as they become available.”

As earlier reported, the cancellation comes as the application deadline for the Distance Learning and Telemedicine Grant Program fast approaches.

The webinar would have covered a Notice of Funding Opportunity regarding distance learning and telemedicine grants.

Grant applications for the DLT program must be turned in by March 6, according to the program’s funding opportunity notice.

Key priorities of the program include assisting rural communities with economic recovery and ensuring rural residents have access to all USDA Rural Development programs.

The program also has reducing climate pollution as a top priority, the agency’s website states.
