A Kentucky-based fiber-optic internet provider has announced a slew of new high-profile partnerships across the state.
Accelecom, based in Louisville, announced their latest partnership with Horizon Adult Health Care Oct. 5. Horizon Adult Health Care operates 17 locations across Kentucky and provides health care for elderly individuals.
Kevin Jones, Horizon Adult Health Care’s CFO, said the partnership will allow his organization to improve patient care and streamline administrative operations. He noted that Horizon Adult Health Care is considered a rural healthcare provider.
“Our experience with Accelecom has been exceptionally professional and efficient,” he said. “Accelecom serving all our facilities greatly enhances efficiency, eliminating the complexity of dealing with multiple providers.”
In September, Accelecom announced partnerships with the Kentucky Primary Care Association (KPCA) and Cumberland River Behavioral Health, which operates multiple locations in Eastern Kentucky.
According to the company’s Sept. 26 release about the partnership with Kentucky Primary Care Association, Accelecom said they will begin fiber builds to over 60 of the association’s rural Kentucky locations.
Molly Lewis, the association’s CEO, explained the reasoning behind the partnership.
“We believe by investing in broadband, KPCA members benefit from the use of electronic health records, telehealth, care coordination supports, claim submission, and business platforms—all of which are necessary for the efficient delivery of patient-centered healthcare.”
Melanie Yeager, the CEO at Cumberland River Behavorial Health, said Accelecom’s platform options made the difference in their decision-making process. She called Accelecom’s next-generation platform a “key factor” for switching in a Sept. 12 statement announcing the partnership.
“Being grant-funded and spread across multiple rural locations, we needed cost-effective and reliable services. Accelecom’s standardized internet speed across 9 locations has allowed us to offer bandwidth-intensive services like telehealth more effectively.”
In August, Accelecom announced an additional partnership with Mountain Comprehensive Care Center, which operates “a diverse range of facilities,” including outpatient behavioral health clinics, primary medical care clinics, therapeutic foster care offices, residential addiction treatment facilities and crisis stabilization units.
In a statement about the partnership, Accelecom and Mountain Comprehensive Care Center (MCCC) said Accelecom’s expansion of telehealth services is playing a pivotal role as telehealth video conferencing has become more important for organizations like MCCC.
Dave Webb, MCCC’s IT director, said Accelecom is providing MCCC with fiber internet service at a more competitive rate.
“This allows all our communications and systems access to be better and makes using our EMR application easier,” he said in an Aug. 15 release.
Accelecom’s CEO, Brad Kilbey, said Accelecom is focused on serving healthcare providers “with reliable connectivity solutions, enabling them to deliver exceptional patient care and enhance their outreach initiatives.”
Accelecom, which operates primarily in Kentucky and Georgia, also recently entered into a high-profile partnership with Kentucky Downs, which hosts the Kentucky Derby, the company announced Sept. 5 on their website.
Bart Daily, a sales vice president with Accelecom, said the company’s continued investments in a next-generation network has blazing a trail across the Southeast.
“We appreciate the trust Kentucky Downs has placed in our technology and our people,” he said.
