Oregon-owned and operated Douglas Fast Net (DFN) has secured a $31.58 million contract from the Oregon Broadband Office under the federal BEAD program to bring fiber broadband to 4,490 unserved and underserved homes across 24 rural communities.

The cooperative subsidiary will contribute $10.42 million in matching funds, driving total fiber infrastructure investment in Douglas, Coos, and Lane counties past $41.99 million, DFN announced to kick off September.

The project expands DFN’s regional footprint spanning from the Oregon coast to the Cascades, reaching rural grant areas including Bandon, Reedsport, Roseburg, and Junction City. Under Oregon’s BEAD deployment schedule, physical construction is slated to begin in late 2026, equipping local households, businesses, and anchor institutions with high-capacity fiber connections, according to DFN’s announcement.
