CommScope has announced plans to expand their manufacturing capabilities to satisfy the demand for Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program funded projects.
Increased manufacturing production at CommScope will focus on fiber-optic connectivity products and solutions that target efficiency in construction of rural networks and faster installation times.
That’s according to a recent announcement from CommScope, which detailed the company’s efforts to supply products that are compliant with Build America, Buy America (BABA) requirements.
“We want to make it as easy as possible for our partners and customers as they access federal and state funding subject to BABA domestic preference requirements,” said Koen ter Linde, the president of the CommScope’s connectivity segment. “We are eager to expand the U.S. manufacturing capacity of our fiber connectivity portfolio to support our partners and customers and the efforts to bring broadband to everyone.”
According to CommScope’s announcement, the firm’s expansion of manufacturing capabilities “will continue to build on CommScope’s success in rural applications.”
The North Carolina-based company plans to produce BABA-compliant fiber-optic splice closures, fiber distribution cabinets, along with hardened and non-hardened fiber terminals that can meet domestic requirements.
“Preparations are currently being implemented and production is planned to meet industry demand as soon as Q3 of 2024,” the company’s March 7 announcement stated.
