Metronet, an Indiana-based service provider, has begun preparing for a construction project that will provide the company’s multi-gigabit infrastructure to two communities near Fort Hood in Texas.

The first Metronet customers in Killeen, Texas are expected to connect to the company’s network in the fall of this year, with local leaders saying the ISP’s services will usher in a ‘new era’ for the Texas community.

According to Metronet, the pre-construction phase for the firm’s network build in Killeen is now well underway. The company also announced that construction in Copperas Cove, where Metronet is also building a network, has already begun.

Debbie Nash-King, the mayor of Killeen, said the community is eagerly awaiting the arrival of Metronet’s services. In comments included with Metronet’s release, she said the network will be “heralding a new era of enhanced connectivity and competition within our community.”

“In an age where reliable internet access is paramount, Killeen will benefit greatly, empowering our residents and businesses with the tools they need for growth and success,” she said.

The company’s announcement, released March 25, said residents of Killeen can expect to start seeing Metronet trucks in the area as construction prepares to begin.

“As pioneers in broadband innovation, we are unwavering in our commitment to elevate the digital experience for Killeen,” said Dave Heimbach, Metronet’s president and CEO. “With Killeen poised to join our rapidly expanding Texas network, we eagerly anticipate the boundless opportunities this connection will unlock, catalyzing sustained economic growth and enriching lives across the region.”

The company further stated they’re expecting to hire local for market management positions, sales and customer service roles, along with service technicians’ positions. More information for interested applicants is available online here, at Metronet’s website.
