An internet service provider that’s relatively new to the scene is investing $10 million to transform digital infrastructure in Marshall, Texas.

Lyte Fiber, which was founded in 2023, announced this week they’ve already begun construction on their fiber-optic network in the community.

According to the provider, the network’s completion is expected before the end of the year.

Lyte Fiber also said the first customers in Marshall, a city of roughly 23,000 residents in East Texas, would be connected this spring.

“In this initial phase, Lyte will connect over 8,000 homes and businesses,” the announcement stated. “And it plans to expand further across the region.”

Over 120 miles of fiber-optic cable will be installed around Marshall as part of the project, Lyte Fiber’s release reported.

Lyte CEO Carter Old said the network will be built to keep customers connected “when it matters most.”

Old’s comments were included with Lyte Fiber’s announcement.

“Lyte is delivering more than just Marshall’s first all-fiber residential internet network,” Old said. “We’re bringing the future of internet connectivity to the heart of East Texas.”

Additionally, Old said the buildout represents a long-term partnership with the Marshall community.

Comments also included from Marshall Mayor Amy Ware concurred with the Lyte CEO’s sentiments.

Marshall is excited to welcome Lyte Fiber to our community,” Ware stated. “Their investment in advanced digital infrastructure and desire to establish a regional headquarters here demonstrates their dedication to our city’s future. Together, we’re paving the way for enhanced opportunities for residents, businesses, and students alike.”
