Glo Fiber has announced an expansion to Hallam Borough, Hellam Township, and Wrightsville Borough in York County, Pennsylvania.

Glo Fiber, a broadband service powered by Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (Shentel), has announced plans to extend its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) internet services to three communities in York County, Pennsylvania: Hallam Borough, Hellam Township, and Wrightsville Borough.

According to the company, this latest expansion will connect over 2,000 additional homes and businesses to Glo Fiber’s all-fiber network, complementing the 27,000 locations already served within the county. Engineering activities are reportedly in progress, with the build-out expected to be completed by 2026.

Local officials expressed optimism about the new service offerings. Hallam Borough Councilman Derek Dietz highlighted the increased choice for residents, viewing the partnership with Glo Fiber as a beneficial development. Similarly, Hellam Township’s Board Chairman Dave Cox and Wrightsville Borough Councilman Eric White welcomed the availability of competitive, high-speed fiber internet, emphasizing its potential to support local residents and businesses.

Glo Fiber markets itself as providing symmetrical upload and download speeds reaching up to five gigabits per second, facilitated by Shentel’s extensive regional fiber infrastructure spanning more than 17,000 miles. The company asserts that its fiber network delivers superior reliability and low latency, alongside services such as phone, video, and Whole-Home Wi-Fi designed to ensure seamless connectivity.

Expansion aims to enhance local economy

While the company underscores its commitment to no long-term contracts and responsive local customer service, it also positions this expansion as a tool to enhance the local economy by enabling remote work, online education, and broader digital communication. Chris Kyle, Shentel’s Vice President of Regulatory & Industry Affairs, noted that the deployment of fiber-optic connectivity will support both existing businesses and attract new investments.

This announcement is part of a broader strategic push by Glo Fiber in York County, which includes earlier expansions in areas such as Dover Township and Springettsbury Township. Reports indicate that these projects aim to bring gigabit fiber services to tens of thousands more residents, showcasing Shentel’s sustained investment in regional digital infrastructure. Industry observers suggest that such expansions could contribute to Shentel’s revenue growth prospects, reflecting a growing market demand for reliable, high-speed internet across suburban and semi-rural communities.
