Regardless of whether or not Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow next month, Comcast’s Xfinity internet is on the way for residents of Upper Saucon.

Roughly 1,000 homes and businesses have already been connected in the Lehigh County community, according to Comcast.

In total, Comcast’s efforts in Upper Saucon will extend the Xfinity network to 7,000 locations throughout the township.

Jarrett Coleman, a state senator representing Upper Saucon, labeled Comcast’s drive to connect area homes as a win for consumer choice.

“It’s critical that our residents and businesses have access to reliable, state-of-the-art broadband connectivity to fully enjoy the benefits of today’s digital world,” Coleman said, according to comments included with Comcast’s release. “I applaud Comcast for their commitment to bridging the digital divide by offering Internet Essentials and supporting community programming and digital literacy training.”

The project, expected to be completed this spring, is only part of Comcast’s recent investments into Lehigh County.

Also in Lehigh County, in 2023, Comcast completed a network expansion in Coopersburg.

According to Comcast’s announcement at the time, that expansion brought Xfinity’s 10G network to over 1,200 homes and businesses.

In total, Comcast has connected over 230,000 homes and businesses in the state to Xfinity services. According to the company’s announcement last week, more developments regarding Comcast investments in Pennsylvania are expected in 2025.
