Dallas-based AT&T will be moving their headquarters to a new location in Plano.
The news was revealed when a message to AT&T employees announced a new company headquarters will be under construction, at 5400 Legacy Drive.
According to WFAA, the ABC affiliate in Dallas, AT&T is one of the largest employers in North Texas with roughly 10,000 employees.
The organization reported that the new AT&T headquarters will be a sprawling campus, stretching across 54 acres.
WFAA also reported that the news is a blow to the economic health of Downtown Dallas.
According to their report, AT&T is seeking to partially occupy their new headquarters by 2028.
The company moved to Dallas in 2008, but first arrived in Texas during the 1990s, after relocating from St. Louis to San Antonio.
Plano, the site of the new headquarters, is located about 20 miles outside of the city.
The city, located north of the city, is south of Allen and north of Richardson.
