KANAGAWA, JAPAN – Anritsu Company, a provider of communications test and measurement solutions, has enhanced its MT9083 ACCESS Master OTDRs and MT9090A Network Master platform by implementing software based on the IEC61300-3-35 standard, for universal Pass/Fail analysis of optical connector end faces. The expanded optical solutions establish a more streamlined testing process that is 100 percent repeatable, creating a more efficient, simple, and accurate method for field technicians to determine if optical connectors are damaged and need repair/replacement or simply have to be cleaned.

By establishing an automated connector inspection process, the software eliminates any variation when determining connector end face condition and quality. Field technicians of any experience can use the easy-to-operate MT9083 or MT9090A to evaluate connectors based upon the IEC61300-3-35 standard criteria, which identifies four zones – core, cladding, adhesive, and contact. All results can be saved to a file or comprehensive .pdf report.

Ease of Testing Fiber Transmission Lines
The implementation of the IEC61300-3-35 standard capability continues Anritsu’s emphasis of designing test solutions that simplify field measurements. Fiber optic transmission lines used in a variety of applications, including access or metro networks, distributed antenna systems (DAS), fiber-to the-antenna (FTTA)/remote radio units (RRU), PON-based FTTx, or LAN, can be tested with the MT9083 or MT9090A.

Adding the IEC61300-3-35 standard capability expands the functionality of the MT9083 ACCESS Master OTDRs, which feature all the measurement functions and performance required for optical fiber construction and maintenance in a compact, lightweight, all-in-one unit. High resolution and high dynamic range ensure quick and thorough fiber evaluation, and the MT9083 features a rugged, sealed design to withstand the most challenging environments. A large 7-inch enhanced display makes it easy for technicians to view results and the 12-hour battery life ensures the unit will perform all day.
