WTC Fiber has announced their next major expansion project, which will bring fiber-to-the-premises infrastructure to Manhattan, Kansas.
Upon announcing their next major expansion project, WTC Fiber exclaimed that the ‘long-awaited question has been answered’ as the company confirmed a project to expand fiber services to residents and businesses in Manhattan.
Manhattan, known to many as the home of Kansas State University, has already seen $25 million in investment from WTC, the company’s Feb. 21 announcement stated. The company said they have been building fiber connections to both businesses and apartments in Manhattan for several years.
“The next logical step forward is to expand its fiber network to the entire city,” WTC’s release stated.
The company’s announcement confirmed that pre-construction is already underway in Manhattan.
Jeff Wick, the CEO of WTC, said fiber connectivity for a community “changes everything.”
“Fiber broadband is not just about faster internet speeds, it builds a foundation of innovation, community development and economic growth,” WTC’s announcement quoted Wick as having said.
Jason Smith, the president and CEO of the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, also praised the news with comments included in WTC’s announcement.
“Investing in fiber isn’t just a technological upgrade but a strategic investment in the economic well-being and overall development of our community,” Smith said. “The positive ripple effects of such an initiative will contribute to a more inclusive, connected, and economically vibrant society.”
The timeline for the project is 36 months, “depending on material availability and weather conditions,” according to WTC.
