A Florida broadband provider has begun a privately funded $100 million undertaking to bring their fiber internet network to areas of Lake County, Florida.
The development, reported on by Orlando Tech News, represents the internet service provider’s first foray into Lake County.
According to an announcement from Wire 3 in March, the program will target Eustis, Leesburg, Mount Dora, and Tavares, and is intended to deliver symmetrical speeds of up to 10 gigabits per second to homes and businesses.
At the time, Jai Ramachandran, Wire 3’s chief executive, said the company’s footprint “will serve as a testament to our commitment to deliver future‑proof fiber internet throughout Central Florida communities.”
As the Orlando Tech News report notes, Central Florida’s broadband market is already competitive.
National and regional incumbents including Quantum, Comcast’s Xfinity and AT&T already advertise fiber and high‑speed services across the wider Orlando and Lake County area, with retail storefronts encouraging residents to sign up or pre‑register for future builds.
Wire 3 says it will offer free customer hardware and no‑contract plans as part of its local push. The decision also signals a commercial approach designed to win customers from established providers.
Lake County represents a sizeable market opportunity. Government population estimates show the county had roughly 444,200 residents in mid‑2024, a total comfortably above 400,000 and one that Orlando Tech News also says is set to grow.
Additionally, Wire 3 says further updates will follow as construction moves into subsequent phases.
