Residents and businesses in parts of Leesburg are now being connected to a new fiber-optic internet network, Wire 3 announced, marking the company’s first active hookups in Lake County.

Wire 3, a Florida-based fiber internet provider founded in 2021, said the initial rollout is backed by a privately funded $50 million investment.

The company is offering customers access to what it calls a “10 Gig” community with symmetrical upload and download speeds and a five-year price lock for early subscribers.

“Lighting up Leesburg with 100% fiber internet is just the beginning for Lake County,” Wire 3 CEO Jai Ramachandran said in the announcement.

The company also said it plans to expand neighborhood by neighborhood across Leesburg and to other Lake County cities.

Wire 3 first announced their efforts in Lake County last year.

Additionally, Wire 3 said it intends to invest more than $150 million across the county, with Clermont, Eustis, Minneola, Mount Dora and Tavares slated to join Leesburg on the network in coming months.

Wire 3 markets its service as offering multigigabit speeds, Amazon eero equipment and no-contract plans, positioning the fiber offering as ten times faster than traditional cable. The announcement also noted that Wire 3 already serves more than 50 Florida communities, including Daytona Beach, Ormond Beach, Ocala and Port St. Lucie.

“We’re thrilled to be putting down roots in another Florida community and giving residents the power to stream, learn, and connect without limits,” Ramachandran added.
