Here’s a list to track which states and territories are approved to request access to federal broadband money through BEAD.

Given the rolling nature of the NTIA’s approval process for initial BEAD proposals, the numbers of states and territories gaining approval has been changing by the week.

There are 56 states and territories vying for money as a result of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which included a $42.45 billion investment to expand affordable and reliable high-speed internet access in the United States.

Following a federal process, in December, Louisiana became the first to gain National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) approval for their initial BEAD proposals. It was nearly six months before the next approvals were announced.

Initial proposals, once approved, can allow states and territories the ability to request access to BEAD funds. States that gain approval for their initial proposals, like Louisiana, will later have to submit a final proposal.
