Verizon confirmed on Jan. 20 that it has completed the acquisition of Frontier Communications and will operate the business under the name “Frontier, a Verizon Company,” CEO Dan Schulman said in a message to staff posted on Verizon’s website.
Schulman said the deal immediately expands Verizon’s fiber footprint, combining Frontier’s network with Verizon Fios to reach “approximately 30 million fiber passings.”
He described the acquisition (first announced in 2024) as creating “an unparalleled fiber network” that will accelerate the company’s ability to serve more customers and support future innovation.
In his statement Schulman welcomed Frontier employees into Verizon, saying the company will provide information and resources to help during the transition. He praised Frontier’s recent corporate turnaround and said the new employees’ “expertise, scrappy culture and passion” will help fuel Verizon’s evolution.
The message comes after Verizon and Frontier got all required regulatory approvals to complete the deal, Verizon announced Jan. 15.
Schulman also framed the transaction as a strategic move toward market leadership and building what he called “the most trusted brand.” He called on Verizon’s workforce to focus on integration and collaboration to realize the combination’s potential.
“This is a unique moment for all of us,” he wrote. “We have a rare opportunity to create new value through this combination of extraordinary capabilities and talent.
