An announced fiber network expansion in Florida will impact over a half dozen cities in the state.

Tillman Fiber, which has a headquarters located in New York City, has announced a planned network expansion in Florida that will bring the ISP’s gigabit speeds to customers in at least eight cities across the state.

The end result of the project will be the deployment of Nokia’s 10 Gigabit XGS-PON to residential and commercial customers. According to Tillman Fiber, Nokia’s Altiplano SDAN controller will help Tillman “simplify network management and deliver multi-gigabit symmetrical services to businesses and residents.”

According to Nokia’s website, the Altiplano Access Controller is a network automation tool to that assists with visualization, management, and optimization of fixed access services.

St. Petersburg, Fort Myers, Naples, Pensacola, Miami, Palm Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, and Kissimmee are all listed as cities where Tillman plans to conduct network expansion projects, the company’s March 27 release stated.

In addition, Tillman’s announcement reported that the company’s network will serve customers in the Tampa Bay region, the Florida Panhandle, and areas in South Florida.

Ken Dixon, the CEO of Tillman Fiber, said the company is well positioned in Florida thanks to both significant financial backing and the company’s fiber-optic expertise. He also mentioned the company’s strategic alliance with a U.S. mobile operator in a statement include with Tillman’s release.

“With the speed at which technology is developing, next generation infrastructure is critical in the advancement of digital connectivity,” Dixon said. “We are confident in the long-term value our high-quality, innovative broadband services will provide customers.”

The efforts by Tillman Fiber, which is a part of the Tillman Global Holdings Portfolio, will provide end users with “gigabit speeds in every corner of their home using Nokia’s Cloud optimized mesh Wi-Fi 6 solution powered by Corteca,” the company’s announcement stated.
