More than 9,100 homes and businesses in Yarmouth will soon gain access to a fiber-optic network from GoNetspeed.

The news, announced by GoNetspeed yesterday, marks the first time a town on Cape Cod “will gain access to symmetrical upload and download speeds,” according to the Alabama-based ISP.

Construction on the network, backed by an $8.5 million investment from GoNetspeed, will begin in 2026, the ISP’s April 7 release stated.

Comments from Robert Whritenour Jr., Yarmouth’s town administrator, were included in GoNetspeed’s announcement.

“With access to another provider option, GoNetspeed will deliver a fiber-optic network that is designed to serve our evolving community while expanding opportunities for our residents and businesses,” he said. “With access to 100 percent fiber internet, our town will benefit for decades from GoNetspeed’s investment in our digital future.”

“Investments like this are key to endless opportunity online,” his comments continued.

In addition to Yarmouth, GoNetspeed has also been active in several other Bay State towns, like Amherst, Easthampton, Granby, and Ludlow.

“Our investment in Yarmouth will help connect more of Massachusetts to our expanding network,” said Richard Clark, GoNetspeed’s president and CEO.

Clark’s comments also said GoNetspeed’s networks are built to last and will help the community grow.

“Access to high-speed fiber internet is more essential than ever, and communities like Yarmouth have been left behind for far too long,” Clark said, according to GoNetspeed’s release.

According to GoNetspeed, Yarmouth residents will start getting connected to the ISP’s network by fall of 2026.
