Over 1,200 homes and businesses in Sparta, Michigan, located north of Grand Rapids, now have access to Surf Internet’s fiber services.

Surf Internet announced the news in September, which was marked with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by local leaders.

Sparta, part of Kent County, is a village with a population of under 5,000 residents, according to published population records.

Jim Lower, the village manager, welcomed Surf Internet to Sparta. Comments from Lower were included in Surf’s announcement.

“Having additional reliable, high-speed internet options is a great benefit for both our residents and our businesses,” Lower said. “We are pleased to have Surf Internet as a valued member of our business community and wish them much success here in Sparta.”

Also included were comments from Gene Crusie, Surf Internet’s CEO.

“We stood here a year ago breaking ground, and today families and businesses in Sparta are connected to fiber internet,” Crusie said. “This kind of progress is why we invest in communities like Sparta—because having access to fast, reliable internet changes how people learn, work, and grow their businesses.”

Surf Internet’s fiber service includes speeds up to 2 Gig in Sparta, the company’s release said. The company also claims to offer subscribers no contracts, unlimited data, and a price-lock guarantee.

Meanwhile, Sparta now joins Surf’s wider footprint. Beyond Sparta, Surf also serves communities across the Great Lakes region, in Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan.
