Employees engaged in a program that pays 100 percent of tuition costs for full-time employees have been retained at a higher rate than those not engaged in the program.

Spectrum, part of Charter Communications, announced the success this month, with an announcement this month on their website.

The program, called the Spectrum Education Benefit, covers all tuition costs upfront for full-time employees pursuing select online degree and certificate programs, Spectrum’s announcement stated.

Since launching the program, Spectrum Education Benefit participants have been retained at a 10 percent higher rate than employees not participating in the program, according to the company’s release.

Additionally, program participants have been promoted at a 24 percent higher rate than non-participating employees, the company’s announcement stated.

In total, over 13,000 employees across Spectrum’s 41-state portfolio have participated in the program.

“Of those participants, 68 percent are frontline, customer-facing U.S. employees,” Spectrum’s release stated.

‘When they succeed, so does Spectrum’

The program, which is powered by Guild, a talent development company, gives employees access to “hundreds of degree and certificate programs.”

Among the employees participating, Spectrum singled out several to highlight, including Tracy Rodriguez, a sales activation specialist in San Antonio.

Currently, Rodriguez is trying to attain a degree from Oregon State University in digital marketing.

“A mother of five working full-time at Spectrum, she once thought higher education was out of her reach, but the Education Benefit changed that, giving her the flexibility to pursue her degree while managing work and family life,” the company’s announcement explained.

Paul Marchand, an EVP and the Chief Human Resources Officer at Spectrum, said the company’s benefit for education helps employees pursue rewarding careers with Spectrum.

“With market-leading benefits, self-progression programs that guarantee wage increases and now tuition-free degrees, we’re giving employees more opportunities than ever to grow, because when they succeed, so does Spectrum,” Marchand stated.
