Residents in Palmdale, California will now have access to a fiber-optic network operated by Race Communications.

The provider’s services, which can attain speeds up to 10 Gbps, are now being advertised as “the fastest internet speeds in town.”

An Oct. 11 blog post on the company’s website detailed the recent efforts to expand services to Palmdale.

Domenic Pacini, Race’s VP of construction, described the community as “a city with previously limited options for fast and reliable service.”

“It’s an exciting time to bring fiber internet to Palmdale,” Pacini said.

Palmdale, a community of more than 160,000, is located in the northern portion of Los Angeles County, across the San Gabriel Mountains and to the north of the Los Angeles Basin.

Michael Paskar, a video game developer who works from home, was named as the first resident in Palmdale to switch to Race’s services.

He had previously experienced unreliable service with his former provider, and he looks forward to the improvements Race’s fiber internet will bring,” Race’s blog post stated.

The inaugural installation, which occurred last Friday, is part of an initial phase to connect residents of Palmdale, according to the provider.

In total, Race hopes to bring access to their services to over 6,000 addresses in Palmdale.

According to the company’s post, Race is offering services with no contracts, free installation, and prices as low as $35 per month.
