A town in Acadia Parish, Louisiana is the site of an all-fiber network expansion now being undertaken by LUS Fiber.

The small town of Church Point, Louisiana is now the location of a fiber internet network expansion by Louisiana’s only publicly owned service provider.
LUS Fiber, a subsidiary of Lafayette Utilities System, celebrated the expansion this week with a ribbon cutting to mark the launch of services in the community.
According to LUS Fiber’s Oct. 1 announcement, residents and businesses in Church Point will now be able to schedule installations at the provider’s website.
Ryan ‘Spanky’ Meche, the mayor of Church Point, said access to high-speed internet is critical to the development of Church Point, Louisiana.
Meche’s comments were included with LUS Fiber’s release.
“This expansion not only improves the lives of our residents but also enhances opportunities for businesses, education, and healthcare in our town,” Meche said. “LUS Fiber’s work here is a tremendous step forward for our community.”
The expansion provides cutting edge internet and phone services, and will allow for Church Point future growth, according to LUS Fiber’s release.
With the announcement, LUS Fiber revealed pricing strategies, offering 350 Mbps for $59.95 a month and 1 Gbps for $84.95 a month.
Michael D. Soileau, the director of LUS Fiber, said the expansion helps to fulfill LUS Fiber’s commitment of delivering service to rural areas most in need.
“Through this expansion, we are contributing to the long-term development of the region, helping residents and businesses stay connected and thrive in today’s digital world,” Soileay said.
The expansion was made possible by made possible by funding from an National Telecommunications and Information Administration grant, LUS Fiber’s announcement stated.
