The Community Broadband Action Network, a member organization of communities, providers, policymakers, and advocates, has grown steadily since their founding in 2017.

Curtis Dean, the executive director of CBAN, said the group recently surpassed 200 members and now boasts activity across 29 American states and two Canadian provinces.

“My job as executive director is to serve as a connector,” said Dean during a recent appearance on the Beyond the Cable podcast.

He said the idea behind CBAN has always been to connect those who want connectivity to those who can provide it or help facilitate it. The organization all strives to connect industry leaders to those innovating solutions.

In his appearance on the podcast, Dean dove into greater detail about CBAN’s efforts, beyond industry networking. He said the organization has also taken an active role in promoting digital equity and device distribution efforts.

Dean remarked that he has seen impacts from the lapse of the Affordable Connectivity Program, including instances where individuals connected by CBAN’s digital navigators no longer have internet due to price constraints.
