Fiber routes from Dallas to two densely populated markets in Mexico will make FiberLight the first company to deliver connectivity to Mexico through an MDC data center in Eagle Pass.

FiberLight, which recently announced plans to construct the first “intelligent infrastructure economic zone” in Texas, has revealed plans for new fiber routes that will deliver connectivity to emerging markets in Mexico through an MDC Data Centers facility in Eagle Pass.

FiberLight announced the development earlier this week, through a release published on their website. The project will involve two fiber routes, one that will run from Dallas to Querétaro, and the other that will go from Dallas to Monterrey, according to FiberLight’s Feb. 26 announcement.

MDC Data Centers, a provider of carrier-neutral colocation services that has a data center in Eagle Pass, and NeuLink, a new telecommunications operator from Monterrey, have joined FiberLight in a partnership on the project, FiberLight’s release stated.

FiberLight’s announcement described Querétaro and Monterrey as “two of the fastest-growing technology hubs in Mexico, where the demand for cloud services and over-the-top (OTT) media is creating a data center boom.”

The company said a surge in new construction requires secure fiber infrastructure to support communities of entrepreneurs and help facilitate trade.

Jay Anderson, the CTO of FiberLight, celebrated the announcement in comments included with the company’s release.

“FiberLight is proud to be the first fiber provider to deliver connectivity to Mexico through MDC’s data center in Eagle Pass, and our partnership with NeuLink strengthens our offering for businesses by providing a secure, diverse pathway from Dallas to Querétaro and Dallas to Monterrey,” he said. “As our extensive network footprint in Texas continues to grow, FiberLight provides our customers with a redundant route that enables cross-border connectivity and advances technology initiatives.”

Juan Salazar, the CEO of MDC Data Centers, described the role his company will play in the partnership.

He said MDC Data Centers will provide “a carrier-neutral access point that connects NeuLink from central Mexico into the United States and FiberLight’s robust fiber network.”

Salazar said MDC Data Centers is committed to building a ‘BorderConnectPlatform’ that fuels business growth and meets the demand to support pathways into strategically located markets.

Alejandro Guzman, the co-founder and CEO of NeuLink, was also quoted in FiberLight’s release.

“The rapid expansion of data centers in central and northeast Mexico, built to support initiatives ranging from AI to gaming and IoT, is fueling the demand for increased bandwidth and diverse, redundant routes that can support high-volume data transmission,” he said.

Guzman said that, through the partnership, NeuLink will be able to help provide “a secure, long-haul route between central Mexico into Dallas, and creating a new ecosystem to enable cross-border connectivity.”
