A $4.4 million project in a southwestern Indiana has reached completion and now reaches over 4,000 customer locations, according to AT&T.

Residents and businesses in Boonville, Indiana will now have access to AT&T Fiber thanks to a private-public partnership that has resulted in a completed fiber-network to the community.

AT&T announced the project’s completion this week and reported that Boonville now joins over 570,000 locations across Indiana that are connected to AT&T Fiber.

According to AT&T, the City of Boonville contributed $1 million to the project with funds made available by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2020.

Boonville Mayor Charlie Wyatt said it was hard to believe that his community was finally connected.

“AT&T committed to completing this high-speed broadband project across the city on time and on budget, and that’s just what they did,” he said, in comments included with AT&T’s announcement. “And because they’ve been such a great collaborator, more than 4,000 homes, farms and business will now have the connectivity they need to be successful.”

AT&T Indiana President Bill Soards offered comment as well and said AT&T is grateful of the trust that Boonville placed in them.

“Indiana communities both small and large deserve this kind of fiber connectivity,” he said. “We’re excited to continue to work with Hoosier cities, towns and counties to make that happen.”
