A new landmark expansion of Uniti Wholesale’s dark fiber network will link deployments in key AI hubs like Amarillo and Haskell, Texas.

The deployment, announced by Uniti Wholesale yesterday, will add 1,100 route miles of ultra high‑capacity fiber.

Additionally, Uniti Wholesale said the expansion will upgrade space and power at over 20 colocation sites, linking first tier markets with fast‑growing AI hubs.

“We are building the backbone for the future of AI—right here at home,” said Kenny Gunderman, Uniti president and CEO. “This expansion gives our customers the resilient, high-capacity infrastructure to scale mission-critical workloads with confidence—today and tomorrow.”

“Our network is ready for AI at scale”

Gunderman said Uniti is anchored by a leading hyperscaler.

“This initiative is proof that our network is ready for AI at scale,” Gunderman said.

According to the release, Uniti is now anchored by a 20-year contract with an unnamed customer. Uniti said the contract has a total value of over $500 million.

As part of the project, Uniti plans to build new fiber routes, connecting Dallas to Memphis, Little Rock, Muskogee, Haskell, and Amarillo.

More than 106 route miles of new, high-count, diverse fiber alone will be dedicated to delivering redundant fiber paths from Amarillo to AI campuses in Claude, Texas, the company said.

Meanwhile, this latest announcement is part of a broader effort by Uniti Wholesale. Previously, the company announced deployment of approximately 480-mile fiber route with locations in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Little Rock, and Memphis.

The company said the first phase of their build is scheduled delivery for this month.

Work will also encompass construction of a 337‑mile fiber route travelling from Tulsa to Little Rock.

Additionally, the company also plans to deliver a 145‑mile route connecting Little Rock to Memphis this month.

Uniti Wholesale said the work represents the “first segments of a broader AI‑ready network across the region.”

The company also said subsequent phases of their AI fiber infrastructure undertaking would be delivered later this year and throughout 2027.

Other communities along the route for Uniti’s planned fiber deployment in Texas include Tulia and Lubbock.

The route will also travel through Post, Bryson, Fort Worth, Decatur, and Wichita Falls.

In Oklahoma, the route will pass through Dibble and Oklahoma City.

Meanwhile, in Arkansas, the route will travel through Van Buren, Ozark, Atkins, Conway, Biscoe, and Forrest City.
