The first residents have been connected to a new open-access fiber network operated by SiFi Networks in the city of Kenosha.

The news was released with an announcement that SiFi Networks’ Kenosha FiberCity network has entered the connection phase of their project in Kenosha, a city in Wisconsin along Lake Michigan roughly 50 miles north of Chicago.

According to the recent announcement from SiFi Networks, Kenosha FiberCity has partnered with T-Mobile and is offering service packages starting at $55 per month. The plans have options of 500 Mbps, 1 Gig, and 2 Gig speeds, the company’s July 22 release stated.

Ben Bawtree Jobson, CEO of SiFi Networks, said the company is delighted to have begun connecting residents in Kenosha.

“This fiber infrastructure project will deliver digital sustainability, equality and opportunity, putting Kenosha on the map for its ability to stride forward in today’s digital world,” Jobson said.

The release explained that SiFi Networks, along with T-Mobile Fiber, and Kenosha FiberCity, have engaged with the city since construction began.

The companies have engaged with the city by sponsoring city events, charitable organizations, and hosting food truck events, the SiFi Networks announcement explained.

SiFi Networks has also maintained a relationship with Kenosha’s public library, one of the city’s anchor intuitions. The relationship has included support for Kenosha’s digital literacy program, along with educational scholarships, tablet donations, and the donation of a “Digital Curiosity Station” and a mobile charging station for younger library patrons.

Construction on the Kenosha FiberCity network will continue as SiFi Networks connects additional residences and businesses throughout the city, the company’s announcement stated.
