HUNTSVILLE, ALNTS Communications, a subsidiary of Xfone and the largest non-ILEC telecommunications network in West Texas, selected ADTRAN as its vendor of choice for its broadband stimulus-funded FTTH buildout, citing the reliability and scalability of ADTRAN’s Total Access 5000 GPON solution, which helped resolve network hurdles that NTS faced in deploying high-definition IPTV and over-the-Top video services. This three-year FTTH project is scheduled to reach more than 25,000 subscribers by the time it is completed.

In addition to voice, video and data services, NTS is also providing mobile backhaul over its fiber network. It plans to add active Ethernet technology to the GPON it installed originally.
