A Texas-based internet provider has announced their services are now operational on Ubiquity’s open-access network in Omaha, Nebraska.

FiberFirst, which has offered fiber internet services in the Dallas, Fort Worth, and greater Austin areas, announced they have fully commenced their services in the Omaha market.

The company said they held a soft launch of their services in October before fully launching as an ISP in the Omaha market on Nov. 1, according to an announcement from FiberFirst.

FiberFirst’s services will be carried over an open-access network managed by Ubiquity, according to FiberFirst.

Ubiquity announced their open-access fiber optic network footprint in Omaha in August. At the time, the company stated their networks “are designed to accommodate all current and future connectivity uses, including long-term relationships with broadband providers, mobile carriers, government entities, utilities, edge computing, and any industries where ubiquitous high-speed connectivity and sustainable infrastructure are critical to success.”

Earlier reporting from Broadband Communities has showed that open-access networks are gaining momentum in the United States.

Bryan Davis, who serves as an executive vice president at FiberFirst, said his company is thrilled to fully launch services in Omaha.

“Omaha, Nebraska, is set to experience a new era of digital connectivity as we introduce our high-speed fiber internet services,” said Davis, according to FiberFirst’s announcement. “Our collaboration with Ubiquity empowers us to bring multi-gigabit-capable internet to homes and businesses in Omaha. This marks a promising step towards establishing FiberFirst as the favorite ISP in the region.

Along with Omaha, Ubiquity also announced the launching of open-access networks in Carlsbad, California, and Mesa, Arizona, according to the company’s August release.
