LiveOak Fiber has reported making significant advancements deploying fiber networks in Glynn, Camden, and Chatham counties.

The progress is part of a $100 million investment the company has made in Georgia, with more than 1,000 miles of fiber already constructed by the firm.

In addition, LiveOak’s network progress in Georgia includes a planned expansion to both Tybee Island and the Bacon Park neighborhood in Savannah.

“With a fiber network spanning multiple communities in Georgia and Florida, this latest expansion confirms LiveOak’s ongoing commitment to delivering fast, reliable broadband to underserved areas in the Southeast U.S.,” a May 29 announcement from the company stated.

LiveOak Fiber’s expansion to Tybee Island will make a big difference, according to Brian West, the community’s mayor.

“Due to our coastal proximity, businesses and residents on Tybee Island have been underserved when it comes to reliable internet, so we are thrilled to see this changing,” West said, according to Live Oak Fiber’s release. “By building a new, buried fiber network, we’re not just empowering residents; we’re enabling our local economy and businesses for sustained growth.”

The ISP has similarly made waves in Florida and is deploying a network that will serve passings in the Crestview, Fort Walton Beach, the Destin areas, along with Okaloosa, Walton, Bay, and Santa Rosa counties.

Network progress in Georgia has resulted in the creation of over 100 new jobs in areas it serves, the company’s release stated.

Currently, LiveOak’s coverage map of Georgia includes areas around Brunswick and Skidaway Island, near Savannah. In the Sunshine State, the company is most active in the Florida Panhandle along the Gulf of Mexico.
