A private, fully funded multimillion dollar investment will fuel Metronet’s fiber internet expansion into Elwood, Indiana.

Thousands of homes and businesses in the community of Elwood, Indiana will soon gain access to Metronet’s fiber-optic internet network.
Metronet announced the expansion into Elwood this week, adding that the expansion effort was fully funded and backed by private investment.
According to Metronet, the internet service provider’s first customers in Elwood, a city of less than 10,000 residents in Central Indiana, will gain access this spring.
The network, once completed, will deliver services with speeds of five gigabits per second for residents and ten gigabits per second for businesses, Metronet’s release stated.
The mayor of Elwood, Todd Jones, offered comment on Metronet’s announcement.
Jones said Elwood, a growing community, is excited to welcome the ISP, according to Metronet’s release.
“As our community continues to grow, we are excited to welcome Metronet to Elwood,” Jones said. “Expanded provider options mean increased competition and better service for our residents and businesses.
Additionally, he said Metronet’s investment “demonstrates their commitment to our city and its future.”
Michele Johnson, Metronet’s new market development manager, said Metronet has appreciated their partnership with city officials, including the mayor.
“We are proud to bring our fast, reliable, and lag-free fiber-optic internet to a growing number of communities in Indiana, including Elwood,” Johnson said. “We believe multigigabit fiber internet is essential.”
The internet provider said residents will soon see construction trucks in the area and advised residents to look for notifications of upcoming construction.
This year, Metronet’s website has also announced fiber-internet expansions in Round Lake, Illinois and Killeen, Texas.
