A new network is now being offered to Mediacom customers in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, offering increased speed and reliability, according to Mediacom.

The upgrade allows customers to choose between a series of Xtream Internet offerings, including Internet 300, Internet 1 Gig Symmetrical, and Internet 2 Gig Unlimited.

According to Mediacom, the scalability of the improvements “will seamlessly allow Mediacom to ramp up from the one and two gigabit offerings of today to speeds of 10 gigabits per second and beyond in the coming years.”

The internet service provider (ISP) said the upgrades will not require Mediacom to dig up yards for construction, given the company’s existing fiber-rich architecture.

The provider also said they’ll be able to enhance existing internet speeds even further utilizing Advanced Wi-Fi, powered by eero 7.

Steve Purcell, a Mediacom VP, called the developments “game-changing technology enhancements.”

“We look forward to bringing multi-gig and symmetrical service options to even more Iowa communities in the near future,” he said, according to Mediacom’s release.
