Mediacom Communications has begun rolling out multi-gigabit and symmetrical internet service in Jefferson City, Missouri, the company announced, promising higher upload and download speeds and lower latency across a fiber-powered network.
The upgrades are being activated neighborhood by neighborhood and are scheduled to reach the whole Jefferson City area by the end of October 2026, according to the company.
The new service lineup includes three Xtream Internet tiers: a 300 Mbps download/100 Mbps upload plan; a 1 Gbps symmetrical plan offering 1,000 Mbps down and up; and a 2 Gbps plan with 2,000 Mbps down and 1,000 Mbps up.
Mediacom said the platform can scale to 10 Gbps and beyond in future years, and that it can be deployed without digging up yards or burying new cables because it uses the company’s existing fiber-rich infrastructure.
“Game-changing technology enhancements”
Mediacom also announced home networking and mobile options to complement the faster backhaul. The company will offer Advanced Wi-Fi using eero’s TrueMesh and eero 7 hardware to improve whole-home coverage, and recently launched Mediacom Mobile to let customers use their service away from home on what the company described as a nationally awarded wireless network.
“We are incredibly excited to announce that Jefferson City is the latest community served by Mediacom to receive these game-changing technology enhancements,” said Lee Beck, Vice President of Mediacom’s Coastal West Region. Beck added that the company plans to expand multi-gig and symmetrical options to more Missouri communities in the near future.
Mediacom also said it will continue low-cost options for qualifying households, including an Xtream Connect plan for participants in programs such as the National School Lunch Program, SNAP or Medicaid at $14.99 per month with 100/20 Mbps speeds. The company is additionally offering a discounted plan for seniors, active-duty military, veterans and first responders at $29.99 per month with a five-year price lock, free installation, eero 7 WiFi and up to 100/20 Mbps speeds.
