New data from Parks Associates has revealed significantly increased rates of multifamily residential satisfaction when access to smart-home tech is afforded in apartments and condos.

More than four fifths of multifamily dwelling unit (MDU) residents reported either being satisfied or highly satisfied with smart-home devices in their living spaces, according to a recent report released by Parks Associates.

Parks Associates, a market research and consulting company that has specialized in emerging consumer technology products and services, reported 83 percent of MDU residents responded with high satisfaction levels thanks to smart-home tech being readily available in their residence. By comparison, Parks Associates said only 66 percent of MDU residents without smart-home tech in their condos and apartments responded with high satisfaction levels.

“New apartment construction is at historic highs, putting downward pressure on rents,” said Jennifer Kent, a vice president of research at Parks Associates. “Smart amenities, including connectivity and smart home solutions, can help a property compete and succeed.”

Parks Associates said they would address the topic further in an upcoming webinar hosted in partnership with Cox Communities, according to the company’s Dec. 11 announcement.

The webinar, titled “Investing in Smart Tech: Practical Guidance for Properties,” slated for Dec. 12, will feature executives from Level Home, Sunroad Enterprises, and Cox Communications, according to Parks Associates.

“The event examines the impact of smart home tech on rental value among multifamily properties and how MDU owners and managers can leverage these offerings to attract high-income residents, improve satisfaction, and add new revenues,” the Parks Associates release stated. “The speakers will also share real-world experiences to provide best practices in deploying these solutions.

The webinar, which will be moderated by Kent, will feature Guillermo Rivas, VP of New Business Development at Cox Communications, Ned Murphy, CRO of Level Home, and Keagan Huerta, EVP of Asset Management at Sunroad Enterprises, according to Parks Associates.
