Press Release
HIGH POINT, NC – Lumos celebrated the launch of its services in Crozet, Virginia, at the Crozet Arts and Crafts Festival where the company was the presenting sponsor. The provider began construction in Crozet in June 2022, installing 60 miles of fiber to provide internet access to more than 2,000 households.
Lumos is the first fiber-optic provider in the areas it serves in Crozet. Access to its 100% fiber-optic internet will enhance digital experiences for residents and small businesses, catalyzing economic growth.
“After planning and building our network over the last 15 months, we are excited to launch our services in Crozet,” said Lumos VP of Market Development Derek Kelly. “People have a growing reliance on technology, and fast, reliable internet is no longer a luxury but a necessity for everyday life. We are excited to be able to improve the quality of life for the people of Crozet.”
The ribbon-cutting celebrates the beginning of Lumos’ service in Crozet, but the company has been actively improving broadband in Virginia for years, serving nearly 30 towns and cities throughout the state. The provider is working to bridge the digital divide by connecting underserved areas of Crozet with high-speed fiber internet equipped for the modern-day responsibilities of work, school, health, and more.
“Thank you to Lumos for your partnership with the federal, state, and local funders to bring these needed services to Crozet residents,” said Ann Mallek, White Hall district supervisor representing Crozet. “The Lumos challenge was large, bringing along contractors, such as those marking existing lines before new lines can be installed, working to resolve needs of landowners, and keeping the projects moving forward day after day. Many residents are on a first-name basis with Derek. Thank you, Derek, for your care and responsiveness, facing many circumstances that were out of your control.”
