Over 130 miles of fiber has been added to Lightpath’s footprint thanks to the company’s completed acquisition of WANRack’s Phoenix-area assets and customers.

Included in the deal are pathways between the Goodyear data center ecosystem and metro Phoenix carrier hotel facilities, according to Lightpath.

WANRack, based in Kansas, is described as an operator, designer, and builder of fiber-optic internet networks, according to their website.

Additionally, Lightpath reported that the acquisition has increased the internet service provider’s footprint to over 360 miles of route fiber.

“Upon construction completion, this infrastructure will connect 10 key data centers via underground, multi-duct conduit systems, linking emerging data center hubs in Goodyear, Buckeye, Chandler, Glendale, Mesa, and Tempe to Phoenix’s primary carrier exchange ecosystem,” Lightpath’s March 4 release stated.

A full completion of Lightpath’s Phoenix-area network is anticipated by 2026. The release also stated that high-priority network segments will be completed this year, during the second financial quarter.

Rachel Stack, the CFO of Lightpath, offered comments with the completion of the acquisition.

“WANRack’s Phoenix business is a perfect fit with Lightpath’s recent market entry and provides a solution for solving our strategic customer’s near-term requirements,” Stack said, according to Lightpath’s release. “This transaction demonstrates our creative problem solving and commitment to innovative solutions in response to customer challenges.”

Another detail offered in Lightpath’s announcement was in regard to the strategic positioning of the network.

“Beyond the 10 planned connected data centers, the network will be strategically positioned near more than 30 additional single and multi-tenant data center campuses,” the company’s announcement stated.
