A $13 million strategic fiber network expansion by Kinetic, a Windstream company, has begun in Fort Bend County, Texas.

Kinetic, which serves customers across an 18-state footprint, said the project, impacting neighborhoods of Sugar Land, is part of their larger $2 billion multiyear investment strategy.

The project will include over 330 miles of fiber-optic cable, according to the ISP.

Neighborhoods that will benefit from the work include Stratford Park, Orchard Lake Estates, Sugar Creek, Austin Park Courtyard, Colony Meadows, Lexington Meadows, and Crecent Lakes, Kinetic’s website stated.

During construction, the company hopes to connect 2,200 homes every month for the remainder of the year.

“With this build and our recent multi-gig upgrades, we’re proud to offer Sugar Land the best of fiber optic internet services,” said Danny Ferguson, president of Kinetic’s operations in Texas.

“As a company that’s been around for over 75 years, Kinetic has always responded to the dynamic needs of Fort Bend,” Crutcher said. “We’re excited to see Kinetic continue to break ground in new areas, and in areas they pledge to enhance with fiber broadband services across our counties.”
