Capping off a busy month, Surf Internet has announced the launching of a fiber-internet network in Warsaw, Indiana, marking the first time many areas of that community have seen a wide-scale fiber deployment.
The internet service provider (ISP), which also this month secured $175 million in new equity funding and an upsized $300 million debt facility, said work in Warsaw is part of a $4.1 million investment.
“The first phase of construction is complete, making fiber internet available to 345 addresses,” the ISP’s Feb. 27 release stated.
Eventually, Surf plans to build out access to over 3,500 locations in Warsaw, and in the nearby community of Winona Lake.
Jordan Holzwart, Surf’s regional market manager for eastern Indiana, called Warsaw “a vibrant and growing community” in comments included with Surf’s release.
“We’ve had great conversations with city leaders and residents,” Holzwart stated. “And it’s clear that people want more options for reliable, high-speed internet. We’re excited to help meet that need and look forward to expanding access even further in the months ahead.”
Nearby communities, like Pierceton and North Webster, are also sites of ongoing fiber internet expansion efforts by Surf Internet.
Rob Parker, the president and CEO of the Warsaw-based Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce, also had comments included with Surf’s announcement.
Parker said he appreciates that Surf is a member of the local chamber.
“We are excited for Surf Internet to be live in a few neighborhoods in Warsaw,” Parker stated. “We will follow their progress this spring and summer as they build out their fiber network.”
