PhireLink, an internet service provider (ISP) that operates across three states, has been awarded Broadband Equity Access and Deployment (BEAD) program funds.

The funds, awarded by Louisiana, will help reach BEAD eligible locations in Slidell and across St. Tammany Parish, according to PhireLink’s recent announcement.

While PhireLink’s announcement didn’t detail the amount awarded the company, the website for the Louisiana broadband office, ConnectLA, listed Slidell as a community with 142 BEAD-serviceable locations.

The community was also referred almost $414,000 for BEAD projects, according to ConnectLA’s interactive BEAD sub-project map.

Meanwhile, the parish that houses Slidell, St. Tammany Parish, has 106,884 BEAD-serviceable locations, ConnectLA’s website reported.

Glen Post, the CEO of PhireLink, offered comments included in his company’s announcement.

“At PhireLink, we are committed to delivering reliable broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities,” Post said. “The BEAD program offers a great opportunity to accelerate our mission, empowering families, students, and business owners with the high-speed connectivity they need to thrive in today’s digital world.”

The work will provide symmetrical speeds of at least 1 gigabit in service areas, according to PhireLink.

“We understand the critical importance of fast, dependable, and affordable internet access for modern life,” Post continued. “This funding allows us to expand our efforts in Louisiana, bringing next-generation broadband internet service to more families and businesses, ensuring they have the tools to succeed in the digital economy.”

The ISP, headquartered in Farmerville, Louisiana, also operates in Colorado and Kansas, the firm’s LinkedIn page stated.
