Hilliary Communications, a family-owned telecom provider headquartered in Lawton, Oklahoma, has announced plans to acquire TDS Telecom’s operations within the state.
The deal, announced this month, is expected to close in the latter half of 2025. According to Hilliary Communications, the transaction will incorporate nearly 35,000 new locations into Hilliary’s network, encompassing numerous communities across Oklahoma, from central towns like Choctaw and Jones to areas near Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and Lawton.
Dustin Hilliary, co-CEO of Hilliary Communications, emphasized the strategic importance of the deal, stating, “This acquisition positions us to bring fiber internet and modern communications services to more areas of Oklahoma.”
His co-CEO, Edward Hilliary, Jr., highlighted the broader community impact, asserting, “We believe every community matters and that dependable, high-speed internet is the modern economic driver to unlock each community’s full potential.”
From TDS Telecom’s perspective, the divestiture represents a strategic refinement of focus.
Ken Dixon, President and CEO of TDS Telecom, also noted that the sale will enable the company to concentrate more heavily on its core fiber operations, expressing confidence that customers and employees in the divested regions will have a positive experience with their new service provider.
The acquisition involves rural and growing areas such as Elgin, Jones, and Adair, underscoring Hilliary Communications’ ongoing mission to connect more rural Oklahomans to reliable, high-speed internet.
